FAQ
What are Editorial Cocktail Hour Portraits?
Editorial Cocktail Hour Portraits are a luxury portrait experience that takes place during your cocktail hour. Inspired by the pages of Vogue, we create beautifully lit, professionally directed portraits of your guests in a custom-designed portrait space. Each guest leaves your wedding with a professionally printed keepsake they'll actually treasure.
Is this a photo booth?
Not at all.
While guests step into a dedicated portrait space, the experience is much closer to a professional magazine photoshoot than a traditional photo booth. We use studio lighting, expert posing, and professional editing to create timeless portraits that feel polished, elegant, and intentional.
When are the portraits taken?
Portraits are photographed during cocktail hour while guests mingle and enjoy drinks before the reception begins. This is the perfect window because guests are already dressed their best, relaxed, and excited to celebrate.
How long does the experience last?
We typically photograph for 1 to 1.5 hours, depending on your guest count and timeline.
What do guests receive?
Every guest (or couple/family photographed together) receives:
A professionally edited portrait
A printed 5×7 photograph
Beautifully presented in an elegant 8×10 sealed matte
Displayed for pickup as they leave the reception
The following day, everyone can also access an online gallery to download and share their images.
How many guests can you photograph?
Every wedding is unique. During our consultation we'll review your guest count and timeline to determine the best coverage. We build our cocktail hour experience to maximize the number of guests photographed while maintaining the high-quality, editorial look that defines Fox & Darling.
Can families and groups be photographed together?
Absolutely. Guests may be photographed individually, as couples, families, or small groups. We help direct everyone into natural, flattering poses that feel effortless and authentic.
Do you provide the backdrop?
Yes. We design a custom portrait setting that complements your venue and overall wedding aesthetic. Our goal is for the portrait experience to feel like a seamless extension of your celebration rather than a separate attraction.
What if my wedding is outdoors?
No problem. We bring professional lighting equipment designed to create beautiful portraits indoors or outdoors. We also work closely with your planner and venue to select the ideal location based on lighting, weather, and guest flow.
How quickly are the prints ready?
One of the most exciting parts of the experience is that your guests don't have to wait weeks to enjoy their portraits. Every print is professionally produced during your reception and beautifully displayed before the evening ends, ready to take home as guests depart.
Will this interfere with cocktail hour?
Not at all. Portrait sessions are quick, enjoyable, and completely optional. Most guests are in and out within just a few minutes, leaving plenty of time to enjoy cocktails, hors d'oeuvres, and conversation.
Do you offer digital images?
Yes! Every portrait is professionally edited and uploaded to an online gallery the next day. Guests can easily download, share, and print their images.
Can you match my wedding style?
Absolutely. Whether your wedding is classic, modern, romantic, black tie, garden-inspired, or destination, we tailor the portrait setting and lighting to complement the overall design of your event.
Is setup included?
Yes. We handle everything—from delivery and setup to professional lighting, printing, display, and teardown. Our team works behind the scenes so you and your guests can simply enjoy the experience.
Why do couples choose Fox & Darling?
Because they want to give their guests something unforgettable.
